Amazon's MMORPG enters a maintenance stage while the company redefines its video game strategy

Amazon Games has confirmed the end of the active development cycle for New World: Aeternum, its flagship MMORPG launched in 2021, as part of a broader restructuring within the company.
While the servers will remain operational at least until 2026, there will no longer be new updates or expansions after season 10 and the current Nighthaven update.

The company explained that the decision aims to optimize resources and focus efforts on new projects, prioritizing long-term sustainability. In its statement, Amazon emphasized that New World: Aeternum "will remain available to players", although the focus will shift from content development to technical stability and server support.

This redefinition includes a focus on titles with high commercial potential, such as the new Tomb Raider in development alongside Crystal Dynamics, and an innovative open-world driving game created with Maverick Games.
The company is thus betting on more ambitious and competitive projects in the global market, leveraging its infrastructure and technological capacity to compete with major studios in the sector.
