ANMAT banned hair straighteners, bleach, and a hair removal device for lacking official registration

ANMAT ordered the withdrawal from the market of hair straightening products, a line of bleach and cleaners, as well as a permanent hair removal device. None of them had official registration or safety guarantees.
The provisions published in the Official Gazette aim to protect public health against items without traceability or sanitary control, which could contain hazardous substances or operate without approved standards.

Hair straighteners with formaldehyde risk
Through Provision 7322/2025, ANMAT banned four products from the T’ECNOLISS brand for not being registered with the agency. It was warned that these items could contain formaldehyde as a straightening agent, a compound not authorized in hair cosmetics.
Formaldehyde can cause eye, skin, and respiratory irritation, as well as increase the risk of certain types of cancer. The health authority classified them as “illegitimate products,” manufactured without verifiable data on origin, efficacy, or safety.
Bleach and cleaners without registration
With Provision 7352/2025, all presentations of Limpimax bleach and cleaners were banned. ANMAT indicated that their packaging had false registrations and addresses that could not be verified, which prevented the identification of the responsible company.

Lacking traceability, the agency warned that these cleaning products pose a risk to consumers.
Unauthorized hair removal device
Provision 7353/2025 also banned the use and marketing of the permanent hair removal device Soprano Ice – Alma and its handpiece. The reason was that they did not enter the country through the authorized official distributor.
