ANMAT issued an urgent measure and ordered the removal from the market of a series of hair straightening products that were being sold without registration. In addition, according to the agency, they could contain formaldehyde, a substance prohibited for cosmetic use due to its health risks.
The resolution covers ten products from the Prodigy brand and prohibits their use, sale, and advertising throughout the country. The agency emphasized that there is no valid registration for these cosmetics in its official databases.

Unregistered products and health risks
The measure arises after inspections carried out by the cosmetovigilance department, which detected that the straightening products were being marketed without registration information on their packaging. Upon analyzing the information, ANMAT confirmed that there was no authorized cosmetic matching those names or the declared codes.
The four products that raised the alarms were:
Alisado X-TREME
Gleam Liss Organic Pro formaldehyde-free
Alisado Photonic Flash
Tratamiento Silk Press silk effect
ANMAT warned that these items could contain formaldehyde, a substance prohibited as a straightening agent due to its harmful effects. Exposure can cause eye and respiratory irritation, burning, coughing, redness, and even hypersensitivity or allergic dermatitis. With prolonged use, it increases the likelihood of developing nasopharyngeal carcinomas.

Basis for the ban
The agency recalled that Law 16,463 prohibits the circulation of "impure or illegitimate" products. Resolution 155/98 requires that only registered cosmetics produced in authorized facilities be marketed.
Given the impossibility of guaranteeing the safety, efficacy, and actual composition of the products, ANMAT banned their use, sale, distribution, and advertising.
ANMAT no ha autorizado a HLB a comprar certificados por lo que la interpretación del artículo periodístico es errónea, señalaron.
Supplementary measures
The agency reported that it will notify the health authorities of all jurisdictions and will continue with the corresponding administrative actions to prevent their circulation.
