The Secretary of Nuclear Affairs, Federico Ramos Napoli, took part in the signing of two Memorandums of Understanding between the Argentine Republic and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The ceremony was led by Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno and the Director General of the international organization, Rafael Grossi.
The agreements fall within the policy of international cooperation on the peaceful uses of nuclear energy. This constitutes a field in which Argentina has a widely recognized technical and institutional track record.

Nuclear technology applied to health and environmental protection
One of the renewed memorandums corresponds to the initiative "Rays of Hope". This is a program aimed at strengthening the capacities of member states in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer through advanced nuclear techniques.
This type of cooperation makes it possible to improve access to high-precision technologies in the health sector, especially in cancer treatments. It also reaffirms the role of nuclear energy as a concrete tool for health policies based on scientific evidence.
The second agreement, called "NUTEC Plastics", is intended for the detection and monitoring of microplastics in marine ecosystems, with a special focus on the Antarctic environment. The program uses nuclear techniques to analyze plastic pollution and assess its impact on particularly sensitive environments.
Argentina's participation in this initiative not only contributes to environmental protection. It also strengthens its scientific and strategic presence in Antarctica, a region of growing geopolitical and environmental relevance.

International projection and export potential
Cooperation with the IAEA opens a strategic window for the export of Argentine nuclear technology. This constitutes a sector in which the country has highly competitive domestic capabilities.
Over the past decades, Argentina has developed a scientific and technological framework that has enabled it to design research reactors. It has also managed to produce radioisotopes for medical use and export nuclear solutions to different countries.
In this context, the renewed agreements reinforce the international visibility of Argentine know-how. They also consolidate the country as a reliable supplier of nuclear technology for peaceful purposes, under international safety and non-proliferation standards.
This position not only strengthens foreign policy, but also opens concrete opportunities for the generation of foreign currency, skilled employment, and high value-added productive linkages.

A strategic asset for Argentine foreign policy
The Foreign Ministry emphasized that the renewal of these memorandums reflects Argentina's commitment to international cooperation. It also reflects its commitment to the responsible application of nuclear technologies in key areas such as health and the environment.
The understanding with the IAEA is based on the country's solid reputation in nuclear matters. This reputation has been built over decades through the development of domestic capabilities, the training of human capital, and strict respect for the principles of peaceful use.
