The future of Julián Álvarez remains one of the major focal points of the European transfer market. After the Argentine forward made public his intention to leave Atlético de Madrid to take on a new challenge in his career, the Spanish club reiterated that they do not plan to negotiate his departure.
The president of Atlético, Enrique Cerezo, was emphatic when referring to the situation of the world champion and dismissed any possibility of a transfer in this market. "It caught us by surprise and we have done what we had to do: say that he is a player of Atlético de Madrid. We have no offers from anyone and, even if there were, we do not want to sell him", he stated in an interview with Radio Nacional de España.
The executive insisted that the club's position has not changed despite the statements from the attacker, who had publicly acknowledged his desire to change teams days earlier. "He is a player of Atlético de Madrid and will continue to be a player of Atlético de Madrid", he emphasized.
Cerezo's words contrast with Julián's own version, who claimed that the management was already aware of his intentions before he made them public. Despite this, the interest from several European giants keeps the forward in the spotlight. Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Arsenal are the main candidates to sign him, although the former River player has a contract with the colchonero team until June 2030 and a release clause of 500 million euros.
