Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment have announced that From the Ashes, the upcoming expansion for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, will be available on December 19. The release date coincides with the theatrical premiere of Avatar: Fire and Ash, reinforcing the connection between the video game universe and the film saga.
This time, players will be able to take on the role of the Na'vi warrior So'lek, a character who until now had only appeared as an NPC in the base game. The narrative is set shortly after the end of the main campaign and a few months after the expansions The Sky Breaker and Secrets of the Spires. The story focuses on a dark tale where So'lek, marked by the loss of his family, will have to face both the RDA corporation and the Ash People, a new Na'vi faction introduced in the film.
Devastated settings and new threats
The plot transports players to the Kinglor Forest, reduced to ashes, and to a new region of the Western Frontier called the Gorges. According to Omar Bouali, creative director at Massive Entertainment, the expansion aims to intensify the emotional component of combat and add greater immersion thanks to a third-person redesign.
