Black Friday 2025: why digital scams are on the rise
The event, which takes place from Friday the 28th to Monday, December 1st, concentrates a huge volume of online purchases in just a few days. That scenario is ideal for cybercriminals, who take advantage of the anxiety about "not missing the deal" to introduce scams disguised as legitimate promos.
In most cases, the goal is to access the victims' online banking or credit cards, make unauthorized purchases, request loans, or divert funds to ghost accounts.
What are the most common scams during Black Friday
Phishing by email or SMS: emails and messages that imitate banks or stores and ask to "update information" or "confirm a payment" with fake links.
Unreal promos with urgency: links to fake sites with exaggerated discounts that expire "in minutes" so you buy without checking.
Fake profiles on social networks: pages that copy the image of well-known brands but never deliver the product.
Cloned online stores: they copy the design, logo, and products of real businesses, but in reality, they only want your information and your money.

Five keys to avoid fraud during Black Friday
Check prices and technical details: compare before buying, check stock, and be suspicious of impossible "bargains".
Read the discount terms carefully: look at card limits, promo validity, and the fine print on installments and surcharges.
Only enter trusted sites: type the address in the browser, check the security lock, and review the seller's reputation.
Protect your personal information: no reputable site will ask for your PIN, token, online banking passwords, or codes outside of payment.
Keep receipts and return policies: save emails, screenshots, and tickets to file a claim if the product doesn't arrive or is delayed more than 15 days.
