The first leg match between Boca Juniors and O’Higgins, for the round of 32 of the Copa Sudamericana, left an image that did not go unnoticed. Both the fans present in the stadium and those who followed the match on television observed a marked contrast in the color of the grass, especially in the area near the boxes, where a wide strip looked much lighter than the rest of the field.

The situation generated concern within the club, as the playing surface did not present the expected condition for the start of the second semester.

In light of this scenario, Boca will conduct a new inspection of the grass in the coming hours to determine if the field can recover in time for the upcoming official commitments.

If specialists consider that the deterioration requires a deeper intervention, the management could proceed with the replacement of the grass, a decision that would force the team to play some home matches at another stadium while the work is being carried out.

The immediate schedule for Xeneize includes two consecutive home games: against Estudiantes on Wednesday, August 5, and against Vélez on Sunday, August 9.

The possibility of moving both matches will depend on the evolution of the playing surface. If the grass responds favorably in the coming days, Boca will maintain its home games at Alberto J. Armando. However, if the technical reports indicate that it will not be ready, the club will have to find an alternative venue.

According to reports, during the break caused by the 2026 World Cup, a new seeding of the playing field was carried out. However, the weather conditions delayed the growth of the grass, especially in the most affected area, located in front of the boxes.
