Amid the ongoing saga regarding the departure of Marcos Rojo, Boca attempted an unexpected move. Juan Román Riquelme contacted Juan Sebastián Verón to propose a swap for Santiago Ascacíbar, one of the standout players for Estudiantes de La Plata.
The proposal included the transfer of the defender, who still has five months left on his contract with Boca, plus 2.5 million dollars in exchange for the midfielder. However, the response from the Pincha president was negative: Ascacíbar is a key piece in the team and is not for sale.
