Briatore praised Colapinto but omitted the mistake that cost him the points.
Neither the executive advisor nor Alpine's driver took responsibility for the failures in the final stretch of the race that would have allowed the Argentine to score points
The Dutch Grand Prix left mixed feelings for Franco Colapinto. The Buenos Aires native delivered his best performance since he started racing in Formula 1 with Alpine, but an 11th-place finish prevented him from scoring his first points of the year. The frustration lies in the fact that, with a clearer decision from the team, the Argentine could have reached the top 10.
The most controversial situation occurred in the final laps, when Colapinto was flying on fresh medium tires toward Esteban Ocon and Yuki Tsunoda, his teammate Pierre Gasly blocked him on track despite being practically off the pace. The Frenchman, on used hard tires for 46 laps (46 laps), was struggling and finished in 17th place.
Briatore's and Gasly's statements
Flavio Briatore first assessed the team: "It's a race in which, looking at the classification, it seems like a missed opportunity to score as a team for various reasons. Starting from outside the points zone, we took some risks throughout the race to try to maximize our chances of scoring".
Unlike what happened on Friday, when he had criticized him, the executive advisor praised the Argentine: "Franco had a very good race, probably the most solid of the season so far".

"Both drivers gave it their all and played as a team, swapping positions in turn 1 when asked. We'll keep trying to maximize every result with the package we have", said Alpine's boss.
Meanwhile, Gasly defended his position: "We took a bit of a gamble at the end with used hard tires and I tried to fight with what I had. It just didn't work. I have mixed feelings, but we learn and move forward. We're going back to Monza, a special place for me".

Although Colapinto left frustrated for not scoring, it was clear that his adaptation to Alpine is progressing and that the Argentine is now ready to fight for more. The challenge now will be for the team to give him the necessary support at decisive moments.
