The launch of the space “Awakening La Falda” was marked by an atmosphere of controversy and scenes that bordered on ridicule at the Eden Theater. Mario Sáenz, 62, must have led the event of his candidacy for mayor of the city in a wheelchair after fracturing his tibia and fibula just a few hours earlier.
While his collaborators held his leg with towels in a gesture of extreme servility, the candidate tried to justify a postulation that lacks a party structure.
The call for the event may well be interpreted as a deception, since many were invited under the excuse of the celebration called “Tea for Women's Day”, when in fact it was a campaign launch. This maneuver to increase public presence demonstrates the lack of genuine convening of a leader who has been systematically rejected by the entire local political arc. Sáenz's past as president of the Volunteer Firefighters is also remembered for an administration plagued by maneuvers that arouse serious suspicion.
In the private sphere, the figure of Sáenz is also controversial due to serious family conflicts that include the isolation of his own father from his grandchildren. Neighbors and relatives point out that the dentist would have appropriated the estate of his deceased brother, leaving his nephews robbed of their property. This profile of a dishonest and opportunistic person is completed by a marriage of convenience with a widow of great fortune to support her lifestyle and her candidacy

Political incoherence and mafia-like warnings
“Awakening La Falda is a neighborhood movement, something different, that seeks to capture the ideas that neighbors have for the city,” said Sáenz during his speech. However, his proposal is an indecipherable mix of radicals, Peronists and followers of other spaces that does not guarantee any real governance. These heterogeneous alliances are experiments doomed to failure, since it is impossible to manage a municipality with ideological models that constantly collide with
each other.
The aggressiveness of his environment on social networks has added a component of fear, with comments from his wife that sound like direct threats. In this regard and with regard to his affluent position, his wife warned a social media user with the phrase “don't you know what our last name is?” , as a kind of mafia-like warning to silence those who criticize the candidate's lack of ethics. It is unacceptable for an aspiring mayor to try to handle himself with the arrogance of someone who believes he is the owner of the city because of his economic weight

The society of La Falda is heading for the elections of March 2027 with the need to distinguish between serious proposals and ambitious personal projects. The rejection that Sáenz reaps even in his own family circle is the clearest sign of what could await the local community under his possible command. A leader who strips his own family members of what belongs to them is unlikely to have the moral integrity necessary to honestly manage the city's resources
