The arrest of an evangelical pastor caused shock in Villa La Tela, where an alleged spiritual rehabilitation center was operating. The man was arrested on Thursday, two days after a raid at the investigated residence. The case is progressing under suspicion of human trafficking and labor exploitation.
The detainee was identified as Fabrizio Ramón Pipliza, who ran the place called "Hogar Levantando al Caído." People with addictions were housed there under the promise of receiving assistance. However, authorities discovered that they were subjected to a regime of servitude.
The provincial Security Minister, Juan Pablo Quinteros, condemned what happened during the rescue. "There are eight people with addiction problems who came here seeking a spiritual solution and find themselves in this situation that truly shows an inhuman side of society," he stated.
