
Central Córdoba is the seventh Argentine team in history to win at Maracanã.
El Ferroviario made history by achieving its first international victory against Flamengo at Maracanã, something that only six Argentine teams had previously accomplished
Central Córdoba from Santiago del Estero achieved a historic victory at the Maracanã by defeating Flamengo 2-1. With goals from Leonardo Heredia and José Florentín, they reached the most important milestone in their history alongside their triumph in the Copa Argentina.
This victory in the Copa Libertadores represents the first for the Santiago team at the international level. Additionally, it is only the seventh instance in which an Argentine team has managed to win at the iconic stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

Omar De Felippe, the team's coach, couldn't hide his joy after Central Córdoba's Maracanazo against Flamengo: "Let's enjoy it, it's historic for all of us".
"We replied very well. It's a great joy for Argentina and for the province of Santiago del Estero. We are a humble group, fighting with what we have", he added.
This winning debut for the Ferroviario is the first time Flamengo has fallen to an Argentine team in the continent's most prestigious tournament. It is also the third occasion in which a national club has prevailed in that setting for the Libertadores.
The two precedents have the peculiarity that the Argentine teams: Independiente overcame Santos 3-2 in the first leg of the 1964 semifinals. Additionally, Argentinos Juniors defeated Fluminense 1-0 in the 1985 group stage. Years later, the Bichito de La Paternal reaffirmed its strength in the 1989 Supercopa, by winning again 1-0 against Flamengo.

Mengao also suffered defeats against Boca by 2-0 in the 1998 Mercosur (goals by Emiliano Rey and Matellán). Then against River on two occasions during the 2000 edition, 2-1 in the first phase (with goals by Pedro Sarabia and Martín Cardeti). The same result in the quarterfinals (with goals by Javier Saviola and Ariel Ortega).
