Chiqui Tapia presented the 'homes' delivered by the AFA in Bahía Blanca
The presentation became embroiled in major controversy after the characteristics of the 'casas' delivered became known
This 2025 is proving to be an especially difficult year for the inhabitants of Bahía Blanca, one of the cities most affected by the devastating floods that have struck different regions of the country in recent months.
In this context of emergency and need, multiple acts of solidarity have emerged. One of the most notable, at first, was that of the president of the Argentine Football Association (AFA), Claudio "Chiqui" Tapia.
In collaboration with the Argentina National Team, AFA organized a charity match to raise funds for those affected. However, the most striking initiative was the one Tapia launched under the slogan #UnGolXUnTecho: for every goal the National Team scores in the remainder of the South American Qualifiers for the World Cup, a home will be given to a family affected by the storm.

The campaign began to apply from the match against Brazil, in which Argentina won 4 to 1, which initially means four homes donated.
"We put passion into action! Together with @TECHOarg we're holding an exhibition at the AFA Complex showing what the homes we'll deliver in Bahía Blanca as part of the #UnGolXUnTecho campaign will look like. Because when football gets involved, the impact reaches where it's needed most," Tapia wrote on his social media, accompanied by a photo of one of the homes built.
The controversy over the quality of the "homes"
However, the initiative, which was initially celebrated, quickly became embroiled in strong controversy after the characteristics of the homes to be delivered became known.

The images showed precarious structures, built on mud, with wood and sheet metal roofs, very different from what people expected after the "homes" donation project was announced.
Social media was flooded with criticism, including ironic comments, memes, and direct questioning. "A prison is safer than that, Chiqui. You can't cover with tongue-and-groove boards, or put up a sheet without insulation, etc," wrote a user on X.
Others added: "Do you remember the AFA campaign that promised to give away a home for every goal the national team scored? Well, these are the homes, please tell me this is a joke."
Although some highlighted the gesture, numerous users focused on the lack of planning and sensitivity, considering the large amount of money AFA manages.
