Amid rumors of a possible departure depending on the result of the clásico against Racing, the Xeneize head coach assured that he doesn't intend to leave his position

The latest draw for Boca against Platense at La Bombonera once again put Claudio Úbeda at the center of the scene. With the team booed and a patchy present in the 2026 Torneo Apertura, rumors that link his continuity to the result of the next clásico against Racing grew. However, the coach was categorical when he referred to his future.
Journalist Diego Díaz revealed on Picado TV that he sent Úbeda a screenshot of a post that indicated that the duel against Academia would be decisive for his permanence in the position. The coach's response was clear: "You already know how this works. In the press conference I said that we have to beat Racing and nothing else. It is our obligation".
Díaz insisted again with the question and asked him whether he maintained his stance of not stepping aside, as he had stated the previous week. The reply was blunt: "For sure, I'm not leaving".
Úbeda, who was confirmed in his position last December and has a contract until mid-2026, is going through a delicate moment due to the lack of results and performance. After the draw against Platense, he avoided delving into the analysis and was self-critical: "I do not like drawing at home at all. We had chances to win it, but we could not convert them. I think that we did not suffer defensively in relation to Platense's chances. I do not have much more analysis than that", he concluded abruptly.
Úbeda cree que el equipo se puede recuperar
Looking ahead to what is coming, the coach clung to a positive piece of news: the recovery of the injured forwards. "What I value most from this moment is that the forwards who were injured are coming back; we are going to hold on to that in order to keep going. The bad thing will be that they will lack match rhythm, but it will improve and, after that, I think the goals will come", he explained.
With the clásico against Racing on the horizon, Boca will face a key match both in sporting terms and in the internal atmosphere. Meanwhile, as rumors grow, Úbeda made it clear that he doesn't contemplate resigning and that his intention is to sustain the project despite the pressure.
Úbeda's numbers in charge of Boca
Since he took over from Miguel Ángel Russo at the end of September last year, Sifón has coached 15 matches for Xeneize, with a record of 9 wins, 1 draw and 5 defeats.
