Colgate offers a free exchange for a toothpaste that ANMAT has banned in the country
The measure was taken after several users reported adverse reactions when using this toothpaste
The National Administration of Drugs, Food and Medical Technology (ANMAT) has preventively prohibited the distribution, commercialization, and use of the toothpaste Colgate Total Active Prevention Clean Mint throughout Argentine territory.
The decision was made after receiving reports from consumers who experienced adverse effects, such as temporary oral irritation and episodes of swelling, after using the product.
In response to this resolution, Colgate-Palmolive issued an official statement reaffirming the quality, safety, and efficacy of its products, although it clarified that it will comply with the provision issued by ANMAT.

At the same time, it activated a free replacement plan for all users who have purchased the indicated toothpaste.
Which product is subject to the prohibition?
The measure exclusively affects the Colgate Total Active Prevention Clean Mint© version, which is easily identifiable by the legend printed on the external packaging and on the product tube.
Other variants of the Colgate Total line, such as Colgate Total or Colgate Total 12, are not affected by the prohibition and can continue to be used as usual.
According to the company's statement, the adverse effects were reported by "a very small group" of consumers, and the measure responds to the precautionary principle that governs health matters.
How to carry out the free replacement?
To provide a prompt solution and prevent consumers from continuing to use the product while the official investigation is completed, Colgate has established a free replacement mechanism.
Users who have a unit of the Colgate Total Active Prevention Clean Mint© toothpaste in their possession can contact the company's customer service to arrange for a replacement with another unaffected variant.
The company has not yet specified whether the replacement will be carried out through pharmacies, supermarkets, or by mail, but it is expected that more channels and delivery points will be enabled in the coming days.
ANMAT emphasized that the provision responds to the need to protect public health and that the case remains under investigation. For now, this is not a definitive recall or a sanction against the brand, but rather a preventive measure until the origin of the reported symptoms is thoroughly evaluated.
