The Socialist Government of Spain has dismissed the Spanish ambassador to Israel, Ana María Sálomon Pérez, amid growing tension diplomatic between the two countries. The decision was published this Wednesday in the Official State Gazette (BOE) and represents a new episode in the deterioration of relations between Madrid and Tel Aviv
.According to the official document, the dismissal was approved after the deliberation of the Council of Ministers held on March 10, 2026, at the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation. The resolution is signed by King Philip VI, as established by the institutional procedure, and in it the Executive thanks the diplomat for the services provided during her mission
in Israel. The same bulletin also published the dismissal of the Spanish ambassador to Honduras, Diego Nuño García, although the case of Israel has generated greater attention due to the political context and the delicate moment that bilateral relations are going through.

Salomon's departure comes after months of tensions between the two governments. Israel has not had an ambassador to Spain for almost two years. The Israeli diplomat Rodica Radian-Gordon left office after being called for consultations following the decision of the Government of left-handed Pedro Sánchez to officially recognize the State of Palestine. Since then, the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has not appointed a replacement, leaving diplomatic representation in the hands of the chargé d'affaires, Dana Erlich
.The Spanish ambassador herself had previously been called for consultation amid the controversy generated by statements by Vice President Yolanda Díaz, who described the situation in the Gaza Strip as “genocide”. The statements provoked a strong reaction from the Israeli Government and helped to increase tension between the two countries
