The communist presidential candidate Iván Cepeda revealed that he has been suffering from colon cancer since 2018, a disease that in 2021 metastasized to the liver.
After several years of chemotherapy treatments and a surgical intervention in 2022, he is currently in remission and under strict oncological monitoring.
The revelation occurred during a public event, where the far-left candidate recounted moments from his personal life. In that context, Cepeda recalled that during the pandemic, he was diagnosed with cancer, although he clarified that the disease had already been part of his medical history for several years prior.
As he detailed, the first diagnosis of colon cancer occurred in 2018, just a few months before the legislative and presidential elections took place. This initial diagnosis marked the beginning of a prolonged medical process, which included various treatments to control the disease.
Subsequently, in June 2021, tests detected a new cancerous lesion in the liver, confirming the progression of the condition to metastasis. This new scenario necessitated intensified medical interventions to prevent greater complications in his health status.
