A communist lawmaker calls for the arrest of President Javier Milei in Spain
He is a member of the far-left extremist party Podemos, and he requested the arrest of the president in front of the Spanish Congress
In an act that sparked outrage both inside and outside Spain, a deputy from the communist party Podemos requested before the Spanish Congress the arrest of Argentine President Javier Milei upon his arrival in the European country.
"He should be arrested as soon as he arrives at the airport, Javier Milei should be arrested," exclaimed Víctor Egío, the far-left legislator, in a provocative tone, in an episode that reflects the authoritarian and anti-democratic vision of communist sectors.
After being ridiculed, he reaffirmed his request on social media: "I demand that the Spanish justice system arrest Javier Milei as soon as he lands in Spain," he wrote on his X account.

The request, lacking legal grounds and disregarding any norm of diplomatic respect, once again exposed the contempt that communism feels for freedom and ideological dissent.
Javier Milei's trip
Despite the controversy caused, President Javier Milei will maintain his official agenda in Spain and will participate as the keynote speaker at the Madrid Economic Forum 2025 (MEF25), where he will deliver the closing address.
The event will take place on June 7 and 8 at the Palacio Vistalegre in the Spanish capital and promises to be the largest economic congress held to date in that country.
Organized by Andorran firms Abast and Racks Labs, MEF25 will bring together more than 15 prestigious figures from the economic, academic, technological, and political fields. In this edition, the forum aims to position Madrid as a new center of liberal economic thought in Europe, following the two successful previous editions held in Andorra.

Among the confirmed speakers are economist Daniel Lacalle, academic Juan Ramón Rallo, Galician philosopher Miguel Anxo Bastos, innovation specialist Marc Vidal, political leader Iván Espinosa de los Monteros, and Argentine intellectual Agustín Laje.
Javier Milei's closing address is expected to be one of the most prominent moments of the event, especially due to its international impact. The Argentine president will share his vision on global economic challenges, the role of the state, the expansion of the ideas of freedom, and his experience in the process of economic transformation in Argentina.
Milei's participation, far from being overshadowed by arrest requests from extremist sectors, stands out as a firm gesture of leadership in the international arena and an opportunity to continue consolidating his presence in the global debate on the economic future of the West.
