Confirmed: Nico González is Atlético de Madrid's new signing under Cholo Simeone
The Argentine winger will arrive on loan from Juventus, with an option and a possible obligation to buy, and will fill Samuel Lino's vacancy
Atlético de Madrid secured a key signing at the end of the transfer window to strengthen the squad, following a 2025/26 season start that fell well short of expectations. At the express request of Diego Simeone, the Colchonero management will add the versatile Nicolás González, who will sign his contract in the coming hours.
The player arrives from Juventus on a one-year loan, with a purchase option of 33 million euros. The agreement also includes a mandatory purchase clause if he reaches a certain number of appearances.

For González, the transfer represents a step up in club football, with the appeal of competing in the UEFA Champions League and, above all, the chance to be coached by Cholo, a decisive factor in his approval and the acceleration of negotiations.
In addition, the winger will find a strong Argentine presence in the locker room: Julián Álvarez, Nahuel Molina, Thiago Almada, Giuliano Simeone, and Juan Musso are already part of the team. This environment will undoubtedly facilitate his adaptation.
The move also addresses a specific need for Aleti: after Samuel Lino's departure to Flamengo, the left flank had been weakened. Simeone insisted on having one last reinforcement to complete the squad and found the ideal solution in González.
Nico González's numbers at Juventus
The Argentine forward joined Juve in the middle of last year from Fiorentina for 42.5 million dollars. Since then, he has played 40 matches, in which he scored 5 goals and provided 4 assists, and he did not win any titles.
