Political scientist Daniel Zovatto denounced an out-of-control street party, and the municipality defended its actions

A conflict over disturbing noise in the Nueva Córdoba area gained prominence after a public complaint made by a well-known local political scientist. Daniel Zovatto used his social media accounts to expose a situation of disorder that prevented residents from resting throughout the entire early morning. The specialist reported that a crowd of vehicles gathered in front of the park to improvise a celebration with speakers at maximum volume.

The incident began around 2:30 a.m. and continued past 6:00 a.m., generating a deep sense of helplessness among those who were trying to sleep. According to Zovatto's account, about 15 cars parked on the street and opened their trunks to play music at a very high volume. The attempts at personal dialogue with the young participants did not yield positive results and the situation of lawlessness continued for hours.

Frustration increased in the face of the apparent ineffectiveness of the police and municipal authorities, who were repeatedly alerted by calling 911. Zovatto asserted that the security personnel barely managed to momentarily dissuade those present, who returned as soon as the patrol cars left. "They did not leave because the police acted, they left because they got tired," the political scientist stated at the end of the night.

Official response regarding the operations carried out

In view of the strong impact of the events, Palacio 6 de Julio issued an official statement detailing the preventive actions carried out there. The Municipal Urban Guard reported that during the night 113 preventive interventions were carried out together with local police officers. The authorities emphasized that these operations seek to guarantee order in one of the busiest and most conflictive green spaces in the capital.

In the breakdown of the official figures, the authorities detailed the inspection of 34 motorcycles and 18 vehicles that were circulating in the vicinity of the aforementioned park. Likewise, the authorities managed to dissuade the behavior of 61 people who were causing noise disturbances and disrupting the peace of local residents. The Municipality stressed that on weekends the number of security personnel is doubled, going from 4 to 8 units to carry out permanent patrols.

Regarding the specific case that occurred on Hipólito Yrigoyen Avenue, the local security agency stated that it had intervened on two specific occasions. The authorities indicated that the Urban Guard officers attempted to disperse the group of people and immediately notified the police force so that it could act. However, for the affected residents, these actions are insufficient in the face of a problem that seems to be repeated systematically.

Questions about the local security system

Daniel Zovatto directed harsh criticism at the highest-ranking officials, including Mayor Daniel Passerini and the Security Minister. The complainant maintained that paying taxes gives citizens the right to demand public order and peace in their homes. "We can't normalize what is exceptional; this is not urban folklore, it is lawlessness," he stated in his posts on the social network X to raise his protest.

For Zovatto, the passive role of the Urban Guard represents a lack of respect toward the community because of its limited operational and enforcement capacity. He argued that limiting actions to polite invitations for offenders to leave doesn't constitute a real solution to this conflict. These criticisms resonate in other sectors of the city where motorcycle street races and alcohol consumption in public squares are recurrent.

The debate on the need to amend the current ordinances to guarantee effective penalties has once again forcefully entered the local agenda. Many citizens agree that the lack of authority sends a message of permissiveness that seriously deteriorates the quality of life in urban centers. Likewise, citizens urge the municipality to find mechanisms for an immediate response that do not end only in weak actions or in simple press releases.
