ERSEP authorized an 8.27% increase in the drinking water rate in Córdoba, according to the Official Gazette. The adjustment corresponds to the June-September 2025 period and will be applied starting in December on upcoming bills. This is the fourth increase of the year, following hikes of 19.1% in February, 12.3% in May, and 8.81% in August.
With this increase, the accumulated rise in 2025 reaches 53.8%, according to official estimates from Aguas Cordobesas and ERSEP. Of the total rate, about one third is allocated directly to provincial and municipal taxes, funds that should improve the service. Users are paying more, but issues with pressure, leaks, and outages persist in various neighborhoods of the city of Córdoba.

History of increases and context
Despite the increases, the quality of the water and the infrastructure show no significant improvements or visible concrete investments for residents. The lack of transparency in the execution of collected funds raises concerns about the efficiency of the system and the use of resources. Residents maintain that continuous increases without tangible improvements directly affect citizens' wallets and trust in the company and ERSEP.
In February, the increase was 19.1% and replied to costs from the last four months of 2024. Then in May, 12.3% was added for expenses from January and February, and in August, 8.81% for the March-June period. The December adjustment of 8.27% completes a year with successive increases, creating a strong impact on the average family budget.

Distribution and citizen questioning
One third of what each user pays is allocated to the province and the municipality, according to ERSEP, for investment and fee purposes. However, residents and organizations claim that the resources are not reflected in concrete improvements to the drinking water service. The debate about the efficiency of spending and the quality of supply resurfaces with each increase authorized by ERSEP.
Specialists warn that if structural improvements are not implemented, future increases will continue to generate discontent among the population. ERSEP's oversight will be key to ensuring that the increases impact investment and not just tax collection. Meanwhile, users will have to face the new increase starting in December, adding pressure to regular expenses and already existing taxes.
