Córdoba: the largest wheat production in history is expected

The Córdoba Grain Exchange estimated that for the 2025-26 season in Córdoba, wheat would reach an average yield of 35 qq/ha and 5.7 million tons, the highest production in history.

Meanwhile, for chickpeas, a yield of 25 qq/ha is expected, the highest yield ever obtained in Córdoba, and 49 thousand tons of production.

Abundant and widespread rainfall throughout the province was key to maintaining soil moisture and improving the overall condition of the fields.

The crops were in a critical period, so the environmental conditions in the coming days will greatly influence the maintenance of these productive variables.

Wheat in Marcos Juárez and Unión

For wheat, in most departments, rainfed yields are projected to be higher than last season, with Marcos Juárez standing out at 49.7 qq/ha and Unión at 47.5 qq/ha.

The estimated production would be the highest in the history of Córdoba province, influenced not only by yields—the highest of the last four seasons—but also by the area sown with wheat in this cycle, 66% above the provincial average.

For chickpeas, according to reports from collaborators, irrigated area predominates.

Considering both systems, yields would exceed those of the previous season by 30% and would be the highest since BCCBA has records.

Colón department leads the area with 29.7 qq/ha.

However, the estimated production was lower than both last season and the historical average, due to the reduction in area recorded this cycle.
