Córdoba: life imprisonment for the young man who killed his employer in a field in El Arañado
It happened in November 2023 in the San Justo department. He was convicted of aggravated homicide with premeditation and cruelty
The San Francisco Criminal Court sentenced Héctor Raúl Segovia, 23 years old, to life imprisonment. He was found guilty of killing his employer in 2023. The incident took place on a farm located in El Arañado, in the San Justo department of Córdoba, nearly 200 km (124 miles) from the provincial capital.
The victim was Gaspar Esteban Bosco, a farmer who was 32 years old, murdered with a bladed weapon during a work-related dispute.
A conviction for aggravated homicide and aggravated theft
Segovia was tried for aggravated homicide due to premeditation and cruelty, as well as aggravated theft. The case was conducted with citizen juries and concluded this Thursday with a unanimous guilty verdict.
The defendant was originally from Chaco, but was living in Córdoba for work and resided on the employer's property at the time of the incident.

The trial revealed details of the employment relationship between victim and perpetrator
According to the investigation, the crime was possibly triggered by an argument related to rural tasks. Bosco's body was found next to his pickup truck, with multiple stab wounds and signs of a struggle, which guided the investigation.
Segovia was arrested within a few hours and identified as the sole perpetrator of the attack, with no involvement from third parties.

A case solved within a reasonable judicial timeframe and with solid evidence
The trial began on June 13 and proceeded with the presentation of technical evidence and key testimonies. Prosecutor Cecilia Dupraz maintained from the outset that there was compelling evidence linking Segovia to the crime.
The court imposed the maximum penalty provided in the Penal Code for cases of aggravated homicide: life imprisonment.

Case reminder: a brutal crime
The crime occurred on November 3, 2023, on a farm in eastern Córdoba. The defendant lived and worked with the victim. The crime scene was key: stabbed body, stopped pickup truck, and no signs of forced entry into the residence.
With this sentence, the judicial process closes a case that caused great shock in the communities of El Arañado and Sacanta.
