Planned transition between Delgado and Lezcano
The replacement would take place when the current Attorney General Juan Manuel Delgado's term ends in March 2026, as established by his current appointment. The provincial Government has stated that it seeks to ensure an orderly transition between both officials before the formal handover. Coordination would take place after the judicial recess, allowing several weeks of joint work.
The proposal has entered the Legislature and will be analyzed under the usual institutional mechanism for this type of appointment. The ruling party is confident that the process could be completed before the end of the year, depending on the progress of the committees. It is also possible that the debate will be postponed to the start of the 2026 regular session if time is insufficient.
Legislative blocs will begin to review the candidate's background and the technical content of the file submitted by the Executive. The vote will require specific majorities established for the appointment of the head of the Public Prosecutor's Office. The outcome of the process will depend on the parliamentary dynamics of the coming weeks.
