The project aims to expand the terminal, add services, and sustain the strong growth of air traffic
The provincial government received the announcement of an investment exceeding US$26 million aimed at modernizing the airport and strengthening its critical infrastructure. The authorities emphasized that the main objective is to support rising demand that is putting pressure on current operational capacity. The proposal includes general improvements designed to optimize user flow in a context of increasing air traffic activity.
Executives from Aeropuertos Argentina participated in the presentation along with local representatives who highlighted the economic impact associated with the project. The governor stressed that the commitment comes at a challenging time for the country and represents a sign of confidence in the province's recovery. "This is a commitment to the development and growth of the country and the people of Córdoba," he stated during the meeting.
The project envisions a significant building expansion that will increase the available space for airlines and passengers at an airport that already operates above 2.6 million annual travelers. The expansion includes new service areas designed to prevent congestion during peak hours. The authorities emphasized that the growth in air traffic makes this infrastructure leap essential.

Building expansion and renewed services
The plan includes adding 4,300 m² (46,285 square feet) to the terminal to increase its total area to 24,000 m² (258,334 square feet) and improve the building's internal layout. There will be more check-in counters, new boarding gates, and commercial areas designed to enhance the user experience. The project will also add an automated baggage system that will streamline pre-flight processes.
The sterile arrival and departure areas will be completely renovated to strengthen migration and security controls. The plan is to double the capacity of domestic boarding and expand international boarding by 40% (to 1,800 m² [19,375 square feet]) to accommodate future growth. Meanwhile, the doubling of domestic boarding is planned, increasing from 960 m² (10,333 square feet) to 2,600 m² (27,986 square feet) and 31 check-in counters, with 7 newly added.
During construction, the terminal will operate normally, although temporary detours will be implemented to manage internal movement. The technical specifications also detail an additional 200 m² (2,153 square feet) expansion in the check-in hall and a new state-of-the-art BHS system for baggage handling. In addition, the plan is to expand to 7 boarding gates (currently there are 4), including two gates for remote boarding, new commercial spaces, two VIP lounges, and a fully renovated Duty Free.

More passengers and new routes
Statistics show that Taravella airport keeps steady growth, with 2,621,415 passengers between January and October and a year-on-year increase of 12.06%. That expansion includes increases in domestic flights and a notable recovery in international traffic. The previous year, a total of 2,865,012 passengers were recorded, a figure that could be surpassed if the current trend continues.
The terminal also expanded its connections with new routes operated by regional and international companies that strengthen Córdoba's position as a strategic hub. Direct services to Bogotá, São Paulo, Punta Cana, and Asunción were added, in addition to seasonal operations and increased frequencies in several airlines. This increase helps sustain and improve tourism and business activity in the province.
In air cargo, the airport added specific flights and increased frequencies to key destinations for regional logistics and international transport. Executives from Aeropuertos Argentina indicated that the works will allow for further growth and improve the province's competitiveness. "Córdoba airport will be a next-generation airport," Daniel Ketchibachian emphasized.
