After the first meeting between President Milei and the governors, Córdoba became the first province to initiate efforts to access international financing. According to economic analysts, the central message from the meeting was that jurisdictions with fiscal strength would be able to take on debt with national backing. The objective, following Minister Caputo's proposal, is to inject foreign currency into the country without compromising the Nation's balance sheet.
In this new framework, the Minister of Economy urged the provinces to seek external loans that would strengthen the inflow of dollars into the financial system. Córdoba, with previous experience in debt management and bond administration, moved quickly to hold meetings with multilateral organizations. The meetings are aimed at financing infrastructure and regional development projects.
The province keeps a favorable position due to its credit history and its orderly financial structure. These conditions allow it to access lines of credit on better terms than other jurisdictions. For the national government, this type of operation represents fiscal relief, as it reduces the need for direct assistance to the provinces.
