The Chamber of Accusation of Córdoba upheld the referral to trial against the former provincial Security Minister Alfonso Mosquera. The complaint was filed by his former partner, a policewoman, who accused him of acts of violence against her. The charges include sexual abuse with carnal access, unlawful deprivation of liberty, and bodily harm.
The provincial court confirmed all the facts investigated during the preliminary proceedings. According to the Prosecutor's Office, sufficient evidence was found to support the accusation. The progress of the case will allow for an oral trial to determine the criminal responsibility of the former official.
Following the judicial decision, the case file will be forwarded to assign the Criminal Court that will conduct the trial. So far, no date has been set for the start of the hearings. Mosquera was charged and questioned, but never detained during the proceedings.

Part of the process will be solved abroad
A section of the case will have to be addressed abroad due to the complainant's statement. The woman stated that part of the abuses occurred during a trip to Portugal. The Chamber of Accusation determined that this part of the case must be solved under the jurisdiction of that country.
The crime in question also involves sexual abuse with carnal access that took place outside Argentine territory. Portuguese justice will have to analyze the evidence and define the procedural steps. This opens an international chapter within an already complex case file.
