The province reaffirmed its cultural leadership with more than one hundred performances and a new theater hall
For more than a week, Córdoba hosted an intense theater program with over 110 performances in different parts of the province. The 15th edition of the Córdoba Mercosur International Theater Festival established the province as a center for the performing arts in the country. In total, 52 productions participated, presented in 45 theaters and cultural venues.
The closing event took place with the inauguration of the new Teatro de la Reforma, located at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of UNC. The venue, with a capacity for more than 400 spectators, was added to the city's permanent theater schedule. Its first performance featured the play Muerde, from Buenos Aires, before a packed house.
Raúl Sansica, head of the Córdoba Cultura Agency, highlighted the festival's continuity and the magnitude of its attendance. "A festival that endures over time, in such complex times, and that brings shows of this quality," he stated. He also emphasized the importance of institutional support to strengthen Córdoba's artistic production.

The 2025 edition featured the participation of ensembles from France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Mexico, Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, and Brazil. Groups from different Argentine provinces also joined, including Buenos Aires, Mendoza, Santa Fe, Entre Ríos, and Río Negro. The program included local plays from various genres, along with independent and institutional productions.
The festival was accompanied by training activities and professional meetings aimed at promoting theatrical creation. There were workshops, talks, and residencies that enabled the exchange of experiences between national and foreign artists. These spaces established Córdoba as a cultural hub with international projection and growing performing arts development.
With this edition, Córdoba reaffirmed its commitment to fostering creative industries and cultural employment. The event maintained its federal character, with performances in both the capital and the interior, encouraging the participation of new audiences. The Córdoba Mercosur International Theater Festival remains a regional benchmark in the Latin American theater scene.
