The events took place in the General Paz neighborhood and downtown. One of the parking attendants demanded 20,000 pesos (44 pounds) and assaulted the driver who refused to pay

Córdoba Police arrested three "naranjitas" in different operations carried out in recent hours. The car guards were accused of assaulting drivers and damaging vehicles after the victims refused to pay for parking. Both incidents were reported by neighbors and recorded by security cameras.

The first case took place in the General Paz neighborhood, where a 36-year-old man demanded 20,000 pesos (44 pounds) from a motorist to "watch" his car. When the driver refused, the assailant reacted violently, hit the driver, and tried to flee. The victim called for help and police intervened quickly, managing to arrest him at the scene.

Violence and extortion in public spaces

The second incident occurred in the city center, where two naranjitas aged 35 and 24 demanded money from a neighbor. When they did not receive it, one of them scratched the vehicle's door and the other tried to escape. One was restrained by the victim until police arrived.

The other assailant was identified through security cameras installed in the area and arrested a few meters from the scene. All three suspects were taken to the police station and are now at the disposal of the Prosecutor's Office. The proceedings were classified as threats and property damage.

Authorities urge reporting and increased controls

Police reminded the public that demanding money in public spaces under threat or intimidation constitutes a crime. They urged residents to file complaints in the event of any attempt at improper collection. Authorities assured that they will continue controls in critical areas of the city center and surrounding neighborhoods.

The case reignites the debate over the presence of informal car guards and the lack of effective regulation. Urban insecurity, combined with street extortion, causes unrest among citizens. The private sector is calling for clear rules and a state that guarantees order and free movement.
