The Argentine Football Association (AFA), with the infamous Claudio "Chiqui" Tapia at the helm, continues its usual practices. After the episode of the well-known Estudiantes de La Plata's back corridor to Rosario Central for the title invented without prior notice or any vote for having finished first in the annual table, through the Disciplinary Tribunal, the governing body of football decided to sanction the club from La Plata, its players, and its president, Juan Sebastián Verón.
In Official Bulletin No. 6797, the first measure established is a 6-month sanction for the Pincha's leader "from all football-related activities, for violation of Article 12 of the Disciplinary Code".
Immediately after, a two-match suspension was also made official for the players who participated in the corridor, also for violating Article 12 of the Disciplinary Code, although it will only take effect for the next official tournament that Estudiantes plays. The sanctioned players are:
- Fernando Muslera
- Román Gómez
- Santiago Núñez
- Tiago Palacios
- Facundo Farías
- Leandro González Pírez
- Santiago Arzamendia
- Edwin Cetré
- Ezequiel Piovi
- Cristián Medina
- Mikel Amondarain
Regarding the sporting aspect, the Tribunal also imposed an additional sanction on Santiago Núñez, the team's captain: he will not be able to perform this role "for a period of three months as an accessory measure based on his special leadership condition and the disciplinary powers of this Tribunal".
