The governor of Catamarca, Raúl Jalil, agreed with Aerolíneas Argentinas to incorporate 10 weekly direct flights between the province and Buenos Aires for the summer season 2026-2027. The measure aims to strengthen air connectivity, support the growth of tourism, and respond to the increased demand for transportation linked to the development of mining activities.
The agreement establishes a progressive increase in frequencies starting in November and guarantees the new schedule during December, January, February, and March. This way, Catamarca will have greater seat availability to facilitate the transport of tourists, workers, entrepreneurs, and residents.
The agreement represents a step forward for the connectivity of Catamarca and seeks to support two strategic sectors of its economy: tourism and mining. Both activities generate a growing movement of passengers and require better transportation alternatives to sustain their expansion.
Catamarca will have 10 weekly direct flights to Buenos Aires
The new schedule will begin to be implemented in November, when services will increase from seven to nine weekly frequencies. Starting in December, the goal of ten flights per week will be reached.
The agreed distribution includes seven flights in the morning and three evening services, operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
All services will have a direct connection with the Jorge Newbery Airport in Buenos Aires, one of the main passenger distribution centers in the country.
The agreement was signed by Jalil with the support of authorities from the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Sports and representatives from business chambers linked to the tourism sector.
The negotiation was coordinated by the provincial Ministry through the Tourism Management Secretariat, which worked to expand the offer of air services in anticipation of the months of highest movement.
Tourism and mining at the center of the connectivity strategy
The expansion of frequencies will improve conditions for the development of tourism activities during the summer. Greater flight availability facilitates the organization of trips, the marketing of packages, and the planning of services by hotels, agencies, and local operators.
Catamarca seeks to take advantage of the summer season to strengthen its positioning as a tourist destination and attract visitors from different parts of the country.
However, the impact of the measure is not limited to tourism. The growth of mining projects also generates a sustained demand for air connectivity, due to the movement of professionals, workers, entrepreneurs, and representatives of companies developing investments in Catamarca territory.
In this context, having more direct flights to Buenos Aires represents a tool to facilitate business operations and improve mobility related to productive investments.
