Crisis at San Lorenzo: Chiqui Tapia summoned the board of directors to a key meeting

San Lorenzo's current institutional situation remains mired in tension. After the Oversight Committee set the date for the next Board of Directors meeting, the club's directors received an unexpected call from the AFA president, Claudio "Chiqui" Tapia.

The leader summoned all members of the Ciclón's Board of Directors to meet with him and other key figures from the governing body of Argentine football. The objective is to analyze the institutional and financial situation of the Boedo club, on the eve of a meeting that could determine its immediate future. Among the main topics is economic regularization, since last Friday the deadline expired to settle the debt with a Swiss fund, one of the main concerns facing the current administration.

From the AFA, officials want San Lorenzo to comply with statutory deadlines, formally call a Board of Directors meeting, and, if necessary, move toward an Assembly and early elections. This pressure intensified after Marcelo Moretti, the club's president, participated in the Executive Committee meeting of the Professional League, where he requested to speak, explained the institution's situation, and left immediately afterward.

Meanwhile, the possible Board of Directors meeting on November 7 appears as a turning point for the Ciclón's future. In the absence of an official call from Moretti, the Oversight Committee demanded action from him and decided to call a meeting on its own. If the president formally calls the meeting before that date, the alternative summons will be void.

This meeting will not only determine the continuity or replacement of the current leadership, but will also impact the club's representation before the AFA, from which Moretti is temporarily removed until his institutional situation is solved.
