Amid an institutional crisis that extends beyond the field, the president of San Lorenzo, Marcelo Moretti, appeared before the courts this Wednesday accompanied by his lawyer to try to block the bankruptcy petition filed by the Swiss fund AIS Investment Fund, which is claiming approximately 4.7 million dollars. Moretti argues that the club's financial situation doesn't justify dissolution and, for this reason, he submitted a payment plan to address the debt.
According to the documents submitted to the court, El Ciclón owns assets and players' federative rights valued at more than 90 million dollars, an amount far exceeding the sum demanded by AIS. In addition, the president's lawyers pointed out that the fund omitted prior requisitions such as the freezing of accounts before requesting bankruptcy.
The offer presented includes an immediate payment of 1.5 million dollars, pending amounts to be collected from the transfers of Agustín Martegani (700 thousand dollars), Iván Leguizamón (400 thousand dollars), and Elián Irala (1 million dollars); and three semiannual installments of 500 thousand dollars financed with income from fans' season ticket sales.
