The world's largest sports chain returns to the country with an ambitious expansion plan. Its first physical store will open between October and November in Vicente López. At the same time, it will launch its online channel with delivery throughout the country, including Córdoba.
Decathlon, which had a brief presence in Argentina in 2000, is returning with Grupo One, led by Manuel Antelo, Sabine Mulliez, and Pedro Aguirre Saravia. This team already successfully operates the brand in Uruguay and Paraguay, now driving its local development.
The Argentine digital channel will offer a catalog even broader than the physical store. According to spokespersons, it will include products available in Uruguay and Paraguay.

Multi-sport offering and affordable prices, the chain's hallmark
The store will feature more than 5,000 products from various disciplines: running, team sports, mountain, water sports, cycling, fishing, and golf. This same offering will be available in its online version.
The French chain stands out for its own brands, such as Quechua, Domyos, Rockrider, and Kipsta, all recognized for their excellent price-quality ratio. It will also include high-performance products, such as those from the Simond, Van Rysel, and Kiprun lines.
One of its major new products is the inflatable stand-up paddle board from the Itiwit brand, portable and lightweight. In Brazil, it was sold for $600,000 in January 2024, and today it is around $900,000 in the country.

What can be expected in terms of prices?
The company states that its philosophy is "to democratize sports practice." To achieve this, the business model is based on an aggressive and accessible offering, both in basics and high-end items.
For example, basic t-jerseys and shorts are expected to start at $15,000, tops from $12,000, and technical trekking pants from $76,000. These prices aim to compete directly with leading international brands.
"Low prices are part of the brand's DNA," they stated. Although they admit that local costs and taxes may have an impact, the promise is to maintain competitiveness.
La tienda contará con más de 5.000 productos de diversas disciplinas: running, deportes colectivos, montaña, acuáticos, ciclismo, pesca y golf.
Córdoba, in the spotlight for 2026
Although the first physical store will be in Buenos Aires, Córdoba is part of the five-year expansion plan, which includes 20 stores and more than US$ 100 million in investment.
The chain confirms its interest in the Córdoba market, as well as in Rosario, although they clarify that there are no confirmed dates yet. The Córdoba store would be part of a second stage of the national plan.
In Córdoba, there have already been approaches with developers. Nuevocentro Shopping offered space in its new commercial terrace, seeking to attract the attention of the French brand.
“Los precios bajos son parte del ADN de la marca”, señalaron.
Interest from shopping centers and alliance with Carrefour
In addition to Nuevocentro, other shopping malls and complexes, such as the new shopping center in Pocito, have also expressed interest. Decathlon confirms that all options are being evaluated.
The Vicente López store is being built as part of an agreement with Carrefour, which could be replicated in future openings. However, they will not be limited to this formula.
"Expansion will not be tied to Carrefour. Locations in shopping malls, commercial centers, or independent sites are being considered," explained the team managing the launch.
