The Buenos Aires police arrested Luna Suyai Ortigoza this Thursday in Merlo, the former Kirchnerist official from the municipality of Morón who had been on the run for two months after the Justice ordered her capture for a case linked to the alleged trafficking of narcotics.

Ortigoza, 27, was located during an operation carried out at noon at a residence located on José Miró street at 1900. At the time of her arrest, the officers found 20 packages of cocaine, a scale, and cash, items that were incorporated into the judicial file.

The former official had served as the director of the Comprehensive Territorial Center for Gender and Diversity Policies in Morón, under the administration of Kirchnerist mayor Lucas Ghi. Her name became involved in the investigation after a series of raids conducted in May at properties in Morón and Merlo.

The case is classified as "illegal possession of narcotics for the purpose of distribution in doses to consumers and illegal possession of a civilian firearm."

During the operation carried out at the house she rented in Castelar, investigators found 509 grams of cocaine, distributed in a compact block and several stones, as well as marijuana, a precision scale, cell phones, bank cards, unused chips, cash, and documentation belonging to Ortigoza.

The operation was part of eight raids ordered on properties allegedly used for the storage, distribution, and retail sale of drugs. In total, more than 1.7 kilos of cocaine, 241 grams of marijuana, weapons, ammunition, scales, and cell phones were seized.

According to the investigation, the organization periodically changed the locations used to store and distribute the narcotics to avoid suspicion. An anonymous tip made in March had warned about movements related to drug sales at a residence in Castelar.

Ortigoza managed to escape before the agents arrived and remained at large until her capture. Also implicated in the case is Ángel Daniel Paz, 34, who is said to be her partner and is accused of being part of the investigated structure.

The scandal caused a political crisis within the municipality of Morón and raised questions against Lucas Ghi for appointing Ortigoza. The mayor stated that the municipality had immediately severed the employment relationship, although later municipal officials contradicted each other regarding her appointment and the origin of the investigation.

La Libertad Avanza pushed for a request for interpellation against Ghi in the Deliberative Council, which was approved even with votes from opposing sectors within the local Peronism.

Ortigoza had been appointed in June 2025 by a municipal decree signed by officials close to Kirchnerism. Her mother also held political positions linked to Nuevo Encuentro, while her sister worked as an advisor to a Buenos Aires senator from the same party.

After her arrest, the former official was placed at the disposal of prosecutors Emiliano Reggiani and Marisa Monti, who will need to proceed with her interrogation and determine her alleged responsibility within the investigated drug trafficking network.
