James Hewitt, who was Princess Diana Spencer's lover, claimed that she would have been deeply distressed by the dispute between her sons, Princes William and Harry.According to the former cavalry officer, the princess "would have done everything possible" to prevent their estrangement.
During a recent interview on the show Good Morning Britain, Hewitt stated that any mother would feel heartbroken in a similar situation. When asked if Diana would have tried to reconcile them, he replied that, without a doubt, she would have done everything possible to bring them back together.

Hewitt had a close relationship with the Princess of Wales, which allowed him to know her deeply. Their romance began in 1986, after meeting at a cocktail party where he offered to give her riding lessons.
