The universe of Pokémon TCG Pocket continues to expand rapidly. Just days after the release of Celestial Guardians, the developer DeNA officially announced the arrival of Dimensional Crisis, the first mini-expansion corresponding to set A3a.
This new installment will be exclusively focused on the Ultra Beasts originating from the Alola region, creatures that have always sparked curiosity among players due to their unique design and mechanics.
Release date and confirmed initial cards
The expansion will be available starting May 29, and it is expected to add a series of exclusive cards with special tags that distinguish the Ultra Beasts from the rest of the deck. Although it hasn't been specified yet how these tags will affect the game's rules, it is presumed that they could lead to unique synergies among these Pokémon, as has happened with other thematic subseries.
Among the already confirmed cards is Buzzwole Ex, which executes an attack of 120 damage points using two Grass Energies and one Generic, although it can't be repeated in consecutive turns. As for Nihilego, its card adds an additional damage point for each poison state inflicted after executing its basic attack, a mechanic that invites building decks based on progressive damage.

According to the developers, "the full scope of the new Ultra Beast tag hasn't been determined yet", which opens the door to future updates and expansions with dynamic rules or combined abilities among members of this class.
Special events and expectations
In addition to the release, two special events have already been confirmed for June. The first, to be held at the beginning of the month, will focus on Ultra Necrozma Ex, one of the most anticipated cards by the community. Meanwhile, in mid-June, a selection event featuring Poipole, another Ultra Beast with a strong presence in the series, will take place.

The community speculates about the possibility that this mini-expansion will introduce a new game mechanic, similar to what happened with Astral Light and the inclusion of Arceus. This expectation is reinforced by the fact that small sets often serve as a space to experiment with new rules and dynamics.
Dimensional Crisis represents not only a nostalgic nod to a very particular generation of the Pokémon universe, but also a commitment to continue diversifying the metagame within TCG Pocket.
