The disastrous Chiqui Tapia wants to change the regulations for the Clausura once again.
Just as in the final, the president of the AFA is considering including extra time in all stages of the play-offs
Huracán and Platense will decide next Sunday at the Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades who the new champion of Argentine football will be.
Although both teams have shown a high level on the field, they reached this stage without being among the best ranked (Huracán is 7th overall, while Platense is 13th). This situation suggests that the sporting advantage granted to the better-placed teams in the group stage did not translate into results, since no home team managed to advance in the quarterfinals or semifinals.

For this reason, the Argentine Football Association (AFA), led by Claudio Chiqui Tapia, will seek to implement regulatory changes again for the Clausura.
AFA considers including extra time in all play-off stages
The proposal, promoted by some clubs, calls for the introduction of extra time in the round of 16, quarterfinals, and semifinals of the 2025 Clausura. Currently, the final, unlike the rest of the play-offs, is the only one that features two 15-minute extra periods in case of a tie in regulation time.
Curiously, this initiative would go against the trend in Europe, where UEFA is considering eliminating extra time in future editions of its continental tournaments (Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League).

The objective would be to give the home team a real advantage in the event of a tie after 90 minutes, avoiding deciding everything directly in the penalty shootout.
The other change that could still happen
Although there is no official confirmation regarding possible modifications, the head of Argentine football publicly ruled out changing the venue of the final by stating that "it would be disrespectful to change something that was already scheduled".
However, recent precedents indicate that AFA has made adjustments during the course of the tournaments, even canceling already established relegations, as happened last season to return to the infamous 30-team format.
