Donald Trump launched a measure for retirees to stop paying taxes

Roosevelt in 1935 during the Great Depression, which created a federal safety net for Americans in situations of unemployment, illness, disability, death, and old age.

The proclamation describes the Act as a "monumental legislative achievement" and emphasizes that the program remains anchored in a simple yet powerful promise: to guarantee support and stability to those who dedicated their lives to the nation's development. Trump states that, thanks to the efforts of his administration, Social Security is now "stronger and more resilient than ever."

One of the key points of the proclamation is that, under Trump, most seniors will no longer pay taxes on their Social Security benefits, thanks to provisions included in the Republican spending package called One Big Beautiful Bill, signed last month. Trump described it as "the largest tax cut for seniors in our country's history."

Additionally, the administration highlights several concrete achievements:

• Reduction of the average phone wait time, which went from 30 minutes to just 6 minutes, representing an 80% improvement.

• Actions against fraud, such as removal of improper payments to deceased individuals and efforts to prevent illegal immigrants from accessing the program.

In his proclamation, Trump also calls to honor the contributions of the United States' seniors and promises to protect both Social Security and Medicare.
