Trump demanded the resignation of Intel's CEO due to his ties to China and the CCP.

The President of the United States strongly targeted the CEO of the technology giant due to his ties to the Chinese Communist Party

President Donald Trump publicly called on Thursday for the resignation of Intel CEO, Lip-Bu Tan, amid growing concerns about his ties to the Chinese government and technology companies related to the People's Liberation Army of China.

The Republican leader made his statement through Truth Social, where he described Tan as "highly conflicted" and asserted that his resignation is the only possible solution, without offering further details at this time.

The controversy surrounding Tan has intensified due to his business background. Originally from Malaysia, Tan has been involved in multiple businesses related to Chinese companies that appear on U.S. government watchlists through the venture capital firm Walden International, which he founded and has participated in multimillion-dollar investments.

Tan's ties to the Chinese defense industry.

One of Tan's main critics has been Republican Senator Tom Cotton, chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee. In a letter sent to Intel, the senator from Arkansas pointed out that Tan has stakes in hundreds of Chinese advanced chip manufacturing companies, including at least eight with ties to the Chinese military.

Cotton also recalled that Cadence Design Systems, a company Tan previously led, recently pleaded guilty to illegally selling technology to a Chinese military university and transferring technology to a semiconductor company affiliated with the same university.

The Malaysian executive replied to the accusations through an internal email sent to the entire company in which he denied any wrongdoing and stated that he has always followed the highest legal and ethical standards. "The United States has been my home for more than 40 years. Leading Intel at this critical moment is not just a job, it's a privilege," he wrote.

Intel defends its CEO.

The company issued a statement defending its CEO and reaffirming its commitment to the national and economic security of the United States. The company emphasized that it is making significant investments aligned with the "America First" agenda promoted by both Trump and other sectors of the government.

Criticism of the technology giant arises in a delicate context for Intel. The company has received the largest individual subsidy granted under the CHIPS and Science Act signed by former Democratic president Joe Biden in 2022: nearly 8 billion dollars.

This support is being reevaluated by some political sectors due to Tan's ties to China, which has raised doubts about the suitability of his leadership amid a growing technological and security rivalry between the United States and China. In addition to the above, it is impossible not to mention Intel's poor performance compared to competitors such as Nvidia or AMD.
