The influencer apologized for her conservative past, spoke about Musk's trans daughter, and the magnate reacted harshly

American influencer Ashley St. Clair, known for years for her conservative activism and her opposition to gender ideology, staged an abrupt ideological shift this week. This change unleashed a strong controversy and ended up directly involving Elon Musk.
Everything began with a series of posts on X where St. Clair described herself as "dark woke" and attacked the right, claiming that the alternative was "defending bureaucrats, pedophiles, and nerds". The message was read as an explicit abandonment of her previous political identity and an open alignment with cultural progressivism.

Who Ashley St. Clair is
Ashley St Clair is an author and influencer who built her public relevance within American conservatism. She was known for her activism against gender ideology and for the children's book Elephants Are Not Birds. Her posts defended a biological and traditional view of identity in opposition to woke discourse.
In 2025 she claimed that Elon Musk is the father of her son, who was born in 2024, and she filed a lawsuit for full custody. Musk never publicly confirmed paternity. Her recent ideological shift marked a total break with the image that had positioned her in cultural conservatism.

The apology and the reference to Musk's trans daughter
The situation escalated when St. Clair replied to questions about past critical comments toward trans activism. In that exchange, she expressed "deep guilt" for her past role and maintained that her statements "might have caused more pain to my son's sister", in a direct reference—although without naming her—to Elon Musk's trans daughter.
In the same message she insisted that she is "learning" and "advocating" for the trans community. She adopted the classic language of woke activism and justified her silence by saying that she was afraid of being criticized by the right.

The statements provoked a strong reaction on X. User @Anarseldain accused St Clair of having pretended to be on the right for years in order to later submit to the woke agenda. His comments were interpreted as a validation of trans indoctrination and ideological experimentation with minors.
In another post, the user maintained that Elon Musk had to request full custody of the child. He also described as "insane" any support for trans activism applied to childhood.

Elon Musk: "I am going to request full custody"
Hours later, Elon Musk replied publicly and announced that he would move forward with an immediate legal action. "I am going to file today the request for full custody, given her statements that imply she might want to transition a one-year-old child", the entrepreneur wrote.
The message made it clear that Musk interpreted St. Clair's ideological shift as an alarming sign about the possible exposure of the minor to gender ideology, one of the main cultural battles that the magnate has been denouncing for years.

A new front in the war against wokism
Musk has become one of the most influential voices against cultural progressivism, which he accuses of destroying family bonds and promoting ideological dogmas over children's well-being. This episode confronts him with wokism not only on the discursive level, but also in the legal and personal arena.
Meanwhile, progressive sectors celebrate St. Clair's "repentance," for many the case exposes how woke activism operates: it demands public confessions, ideological renunciations, and total subordination, even when children are involved.
