After a period of exclusivity on Nintendo Switch 2, Yakuza 0 Director's Cut is finally preparing to land on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. The release date confirmed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is December 8, with a global launch in both digital and physical formats.
The definitive edition not only includes graphical improvements and optimization, but also 26 extra minutes of cinematics, a new English dub, and the Red Light Raid multiplayer mode, which allows online competition with up to four players and the option to choose from over 60 characters.
In addition to this installment, Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 will also be officially available for the new generation on the same day, with more languages and updated technical support, thus expanding the saga's presence on modern platforms.
A highly anticipated release with limitations
Despite the excitement caused by the expansion of the franchise, criticism quickly emerged. One of the main complaints is that there is no save data compatibility between previous versions and the Director's Cut. This means that those who wish to continue their progress on PS5, Xbox Series, or PC will have to start from scratch.
Another controversial point is that there will be no free or low-cost upgrade: players who already purchased Yakuza 0 on Switch 2 will have to pay the full price again if they want to access the new edition.
