False accusation at the Civic Center exposes the seriousness of fabricating a sexual assault

The judicial investigation revealed that the events had been fabricated and opened a criminal case against the accuser

The case that shocked Córdoba in 2024 took a dramatic turn when the judiciary confirmed that the sexual abuse allegation was fabricated. Prosecutor Juan Ávila Echenique determined that the events never occurred and opened an investigation against the person who had falsely accused a colleague. The case shifted from being an accusation of a very serious crime to becoming a proceeding for false accusation against the accuser themself.

The original accusation claimed that an employee of the Ministry of Security had been groped in an elevator, even with supposed witnesses present. However, the building's security cameras showed that none of this happened, completely disproving the complainant's version. Psychological evaluations were added to this evidence, which detected signs of fabrication, confirming the inconsistency of the account.

The accused, identified as Víctor, endured months of anguish despite not having lost his job within the provincial agency. Social suspicion and looks of distrust followed him for weeks, affecting both his professional and personal life. "Thanks to God and the judiciary, it has been solved that Víctor is innocent," his attorney, Rodrigo Martínez Yadarola, stated.

Social condemnation and personal harm

The attorney emphasized that the judicial decision set a precedent because it was an extremely serious accusation with significant social weight. He explained that the video evidence was decisive, but so were the expert reports that demonstrated the complainant had fabricated the story. "It's a very important precedent for a person who was accused of such a serious crime and faced such strong social condemnation," he said.

This episode exposes a deep problem: false accusations not only destroy the lives of the innocent, but also undermine the credibility of real victims. When abuse is fabricated, doubt is cast on genuine testimonies, generating distrust in society and weakening the protection of those who truly suffer. For this reason, the criminal justice system must act firmly to sanction those who resort to these kinds of maneuvers.

The attorney indicated that they are considering initiating actions against the accuser so that they face the legal consequences of their conduct. "False accusations must not be overlooked; the social condemnation was very strong, but with this decision it is beginning to dissipate," he stated. The case serves as a lesson on the need to rigorously combat these practices to protect both the innocent and true victims.
