FIFA decided to reverse the project that sought to incorporate private capital into the revenues linked to the 2030 World Cup. The decision was officially communicated after the initiative caused a growing division within international football, with UEFA being one of the main critical voices.

The proposal, called FIFA Forward Enterprise, aimed to obtain additional resources through the participation of private investors and allocate those funds to the development of football globally. However, the differences generated around the plan led the organization to suspend it.

Through a statement released on its official channels, FIFA explained the reasons that led to the dismissal of the initiative.

"After carefully listening to all opinions, it has become evident that the project has generated divisions of a nature that, regardless of the level of support, are no longer in the interest of the goal established in the first place," the entity stated.

The organization maintained that the program was designed to strengthen the economic support to its member associations and promote the growth of football, especially in those regions that need greater resources to develop their infrastructure and competencies.

As FIFA explained, the initiative was always conditioned on the existence of a majority backing among the associations and a consultation process with the various parties involved, including the FIFA Council, the confederations, and other stakeholders linked to international football.

The project sparked a strong debate in the leadership sphere. UEFA expressed its opposition to the initiative and other confederations also raised concerns regarding the plan promoted by Gianni Infantino's leadership.

In this context, FIFA considered that the differences generated ended up distancing the project from its original purpose: to strengthen football and generate greater resources for its development worldwide.
