The Finalissima is starting to take shape and its realization is almost a fact. Rafael Louzán, president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), confirmed that there is already a finalized agreement with UEFA for Spain, European Championship winner, and the Argentina National Team, Copa América champion, to play the match in March next year.
The announcement was made by the Spanish official both in statements to local media and during the RFEF General Assembly. "We've finalized an agreement with UEFA," Louzán stated, clarifying that only the official confirmation from the organizations remains for the match to be formally announced.
With this announcement, the Finalissima, officially named the CONMEBOL-UEFA Champions Cup, will thus have its second edition before the 2026 World Cup. Although not all details have been officially communicated yet, the tentative date would be Friday, March 27 and the chosen venue would be the Lusail Iconic Stadium in Qatar, the stage where the Albiceleste was crowned world champion in 2022.
