Formula 1: They claim Alpine will remove Doohan and Colapinto could race in Imola
Due to the low levels shown by the Australian, the native of Pilar could debut in the next GP
A news of great impact shakes both Formula 1 and Argentina. Various European and Argentine media agree that Franco Colapinto will make his debut in Alpine during the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, and Jack Doohan has already been notified of the replacement.
The specialized portal "The Race" was one of those that spread the scoop, although it was somewhat predictable that sooner or later the driver from Pilar would have his opportunity, especially due to the increased pressure on the Australian since the Argentine joined the French team.
Meanwhile, the performance of the 22-year-old has not been the best. In Sunday's race, he only completed one lap before colliding with Liam Lawson, from Racing Bulls, and retiring due to the damage suffered, in addition to a punctured tire. It was not the only negative episode, as he had also wrecked his car during free practice in Japan.

Although there is no official confirmation yet that Colapinto will be the replacement, the media positions him as the favorite, surpassing Paul Aron, another reserve driver, in consideration. It was also mentioned that Doohan would remain as an alternative in the team.
The rumors are not just from now
It is important to note that, although this information had already been mentioned before and now gains strength, it arises after Flavio Briatore, the team's advisor, replied with humor to the constant questions about the possibility of Colapinto racing in Imola. In an interview with ESPN, he was blunt: "For now, reserve".

In addition to what was spread by European and Argentine media, an involuntary comment by Horacio Marín, CEO of YPF, one of the main sponsors of the driver, was added. During an interview on A24, the journalist Eduardo Feinmann asked him when the young driver from Pilar would compete again.
At that moment, Marín chose not to respond. However, at the end of the interview, a microphone was left on and he was heard saying "Imola", an apparent slip that now gains relevance as a possible preview of Colapinto's return to F1 as a main driver. Meanwhile, in Argentina, the expectation is enormous.
