Franco Colapinto experienced one of the most bitter days of his rookie year in Formula 1. At the British Grand Prix, the Argentine driver couldn't even leave the garage due to a technical failure in his Alpine, missing the start of a race that was expected to be chaotic and unpredictable because of the rain.
"I don't know what happened, honestly we still don't know. I couldn't leave the garage," Colapinto said, visibly frustrated in front of the media after his retirement. The emotional blow was even greater because the changing conditions at Silverstone, with water and strategic pit stops, offered an ideal scenario to make an impact.
"It was a good race to run, seeing everything that happened: the rain, the tire changes... It's a shame these things are happening to us, we've had a couple of problems lately," he added.

During the weekend, Colapinto had felt more competitive than his teammate Pierre Gasly, who ultimately did start and scored points. "Maybe we had a good opportunity. We'd found good pace. It's a shame this happened," he lamented.
