The future of Franco Colapinto is entering decisive hours. According to the specialized outlet Motorsport, everything is ready to announce the Argentine driver's contract renewal withAlpine for the 2026 Formula 1 season, a move that would confirm the French team's confidence in its long-term project.
European media outlets claim that the agreement is a done deal and the announcement is imminent, after representatives of Colapinto's main sponsor were seen at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez during the Mexican Grand Prix. If confirmed, the news would establish the Buenos Aires native as one of the young drivers with the greatest potential on the grid.
The Argentine convinced Alpine with his constant progress, even despite the limitations of the single-seater. Inside the team, they highlight his technical and mental development, as well as his ability to adapt to different scenarios. In several races, he managed to outperform his teammate Pierre Gasly, both in race pace and final result.
Colapinto igualó o superó a Gasly en varias carreras
Before the Mexican GP, Colapinto had hinted at his desire for stability and continuity in Formula 1: "To be honest, I'm not the one who makes the decisions. I'm not the one who has most of the conversations. I don't want to go into too much detail. I hope there comes a point when I can race without so much stress and a bit more relaxed," said the young man from Pilar.
With this outlook, everything seems to indicate that this wish is about to come true, and the announcement could be made in the coming days.
When Colapinto will race again
After his participation in Mexico, Colapinto is already focusing on the next event on the calendar: the Brazilian Grand Prix, which will take place at the Interlagos circuit, São Paulo. The Brazilian GP will be held in two weeks (from November 7 to 9) and will include a Sprint race and mark the beginning of the final stretch of the season, with four consecutive races of on-track activity.
Last year, at that track, the Argentine was unable to finish due to a crash, largely because of adverse weather conditions.
