Fuerza Patria swept the legislative elections in the province of Buenos Aires.
With 46.93% of the votes, municipal buses, mayors, and public resources: the victory exposes clientelism
With 82% of the polling stations counted, Fuerza Patria secured a clear lead in Buenos Aires province: it reached 46.93% of the votes, which represents 3,264,993 ballots, compared to 33.85% for La Libertad Avanza, which obtained 2,355,286 votes. Somos Buenos Aires with 5.41% (376,993 votes) and Frente de Izquierda with 4.37% (304,595) were left much further behind. Voter turnout was 63.25%, a low level compared to other provincial elections.
The territorial distribution confirmed the strength of the Kirchnerist apparatus: Fuerza Patria prevailed in six out of eight electoral sections, including the first and third, which account for almost 60% of the Buenos Aires electoral roll. In contrast, La Libertad Avanza only managed to win in the fifth and sixth sections, which allowed it to show strength in specific strongholds, but it was not enough to overturn the overall difference of more than 13 points.
El fraude a plena luz del día: Katopodis usa los micros de la "Secretaría de Integración Educativa, Cultural y Deportiva" de la municipalidad de San Martín para llevar gente a votar y manipular el voto en las elecciones bonaerenses de este domingo.
The election day in Buenos Aires was marked by a controversy that reignited old accusations against Kirchnerism. During the voting, a video recorded in San Martín showed how a bus identified with the phrase Turismo Social de la Secretaría de Integración Educativa, Cultural y Deportiva of the municipality was transporting activists to the polling stations.
The incident directly involves the Buenos Aires Minister of Infrastructure, Gabriel Katopodis, a key figure in the district. The opposition was quick to point out the seriousness of the episode. "Extremely serious! They're using public resources (which belong to everyone) to take people to vote for Fuerza Patria. The municipality of San Martín should provide an explanation," denounced Diego Valenzuela, mayor of Tres de Febrero and candidate for La Libertad Avanza, on social media.
Even one of the women who got off the bus tried to justify herself with an unusual argument: "No one is denied the right to vote." However, for the national government, it was clear that this was another maneuver by the Kirchnerist apparatus.
